What It Takes To Be In The Top 1%

Happy Thursday Everyone! Monday’s book summary was one to not miss, go check it out if you haven’t already.

I am willing to share some personal insights about my experience as an entrepreneur and be a bit vulnerable with you today.

The foundation of this club rests on personal accomplishments, the process of acquiring knowledge, developing oneself, facing challenges and overcoming them, and the mutual support that we offer each other.

These are all private victories we get to share we each other that no one else gets to see.

The Habit Every Successful Person Has In Common

Everybody wants to know what’s the formula to success.

Most people spend their whole lives wondering about the answer to this question.

I don’t know it myself and although there is no one formula for success, studying the strategies and habits of highly successful people is one way to achieve it.

Studying the achievements and failures of those who have achieved greatness before you is the most effective approach to accelerate your learning process.

It’s not even close.

This can involve reading books, shadowing in-person mentors, or even tirelessly rewatching interviews.

Observe the masses and do the EXACT opposite.

Time and time again in studying highly successful individuals, I notice one typical pattern.

Successful people often stand out from the majority and take risks that others are too afraid to take.

They stand out from 99% of the population even if it means facing uncertainty, failure, judgment, and isolation from friends and family.

The ultimate advice is to avoid the status quo and pursue different strategies for different results.

Reminds me of one of my favorite quotes from billionaire and one of the greatest investors ever, Warren Buffet.

“Be fearful when others are greedy and be greedy when others are fearful” - Warren Buffet

Even if that quote mainly relates to investing advice, it can be used for everyday life as well.

I watched the majority of people I grew up with go down the same road with no light.

Go to school, don’t know what they want to go to school for.

Get a job they hate and live paycheck to paycheck.

Eat processed and crappy foods.

Unhappy and not satisfied with their life.

Knowing that this same road won’t give us what we want.

So what did I do?

I learned at an early age when everyone is turning right, you should probably turn left.

I took the road that wasn’t as popular and very few followed me.

Since I was a kid I knew I wouldn’t live a regular life.

It’s easy to grow up and do the same thing everyone else does.

But it’s hard to choose the path of uncertainty not knowing what’s at the end.

Start a business, take risks, fail repeatedly, say no to parties and friends, be judged, and see others doubt and laugh at you.

So my best advice to anyone reading is to reread this:

This world has enough followers stuck in the same never-ending cycle of life.

Take the road less traveled. Be different.

Do different. You’ll get different results.

Leaving you guys with this quote and as always until next time, enjoy your weekend!

“People do not decide their futures, they decide their habits and their habits decide their future” - F.M. Alexander
