Is Hard Work and Hustle The Secret?
Is Hard Work and Hustle The Secret?
Happy Thursday everyone!
Should you work harder?
Is hard work the key? Is hustle the key?
I feel like we live in a world that’s the exact opposite.
There are always a lot of different opinions on this topic.
I just want to say this.
It truly breaks my heart to see people who work incredibly hard and are so dedicated, but yet no matter how hard they work they never even make enough money to really live a good life.
Billions of people every day are working extremely hard and pushing themselves past their limits.
Construction workers, sanitation workers, fast food, and retail workers.
Even people living in third world countries are basically waking up at dawn and working until dusk just to maintain.
Should they work harder to get ahead?
Or work smarter?
They’re different.
There are still people making massive amounts who don’t work nearly as hard as the working class.
You can’t go to these people and tell them to work harder, or that they aren’t working hard enough.
Sure they can work harder, but it doesn’t work.
In fact, it’s the opposite.
What you want to do is figure out how to work half the time but get twice as much work done.
Someone should’ve educated these people, and after reading this, hopefully, you can use this for yourself and pass that on to others under you.
Because these people needed guidance.
A millionaire out there should’ve gone to teach these people how to do certain things because that’s how you move the world.
So they’ll be able to make more money and enjoy life more.
So many people are stuck in this cycle of trying to work the hardest, but it’s not the only step.
Yes, you need to work hard, but you also have to work smart.
I’m always reminded of this story of one of my millionaire mentors:
I’m not sure if it’s a true story but it gets the point across.
There was a plane flying over South America full of engineers and it ended up crashing and landing in the middle of the woods.
Remember these were all engineers, so they were very hard workers…
They all got out of the plane and found some machetes.
They all grabbed one and begin to hack their way through the jungle.
Chop, chop, chop.
They were working hard but they forgot something…
Activity doesn’t always equal accomplishment.
Luckily for them, one of the engineers got out of the plane and instead of working hard just like the others, climbed a big tree and saw an out view of the jungle.
He yelled down to the group and said “hey guys you’re working hard but you’re going in the wrong direction.
You’re going deeper into the jungle.
The city for our escape is the other way”….
You see these engineers didn’t get it….
What gets you what you want out of life isn’t always hard work.
Do you want to just grind yourself into the ground? Then go ahead.
But the people that get ahead in life are not just the grinders.
The grind is necessary, the work is necessary, and you can’t be lazy, but working super hard is not the goal.
You shouldn’t optimize for it.
The goal is to enjoy life…
Do you want to hear a crazy thing?
I think the top 10 people on the Forbes list have more money than the next 50% of the world.
Are those 10 people the hardest-working people in the world?
I highly doubt it.
The hardest-working people you’ll ever meet are from third-world countries, and they’re still not making enough to maintain.
It’s sad.
The good news is in the modern world, you can avoid this.
You can use mentors to shave years off of your learning curve.
Don’t try to reinvent the wheel.
Save time, years, and energy by doing this.
Shadow people that have done what you want to do.
They’ve already worked super hard to figure out what works, so what you do this come in and steal that hard work from them.
If we only learn through hard work, then it doesn’t need to be our hard work…
Learn from the mistakes of these great people that have made an impact so they can guide you and save you the time of making those mistakes yourself.
The billionaire Warren Buffet and once the richest man in the world says:
“It’s good to learn from your mistakes, but it’s beter to learn from other people’s mistakes” - Warren Buffet
I’m not the hardest worker, but I found mentors and they constantly give me answers that I would’ve never found without turning to them.
I work smarter than most people, but it isn’t even my smarts.
It’s all the mentors that changed my life.
Use leverage to get ahead.
“The secret to life is ignoring 99-100 people but when you find that one person do everything they say” - Allen Nation
Question:
How can you work smarter to achieve your goals?

Building an incredible life doesn’t come down to what you do today or tomorrow.
It’s a culmination of the daily habits you do for years.
Being in my 20s, I’m constantly reminding myself of this.
