Adopting The Robin Hood Mentality

Happy Thursday everyone, I hope you enjoyed this week’s book summary on the great Michael Jordan!

Today’s self-improvement tip will relate to what we discussed on Monday!

I believe having the Robin Hood mentality is one of those foundational skills to have on your tool belt.

So let’s get into it…

What is the Robinhood Mentality?

The Robin Hood mentality is your ability to learn something new from everyone you meet.

It was inspired by the legendary figure of Robin Hood, a heroic outlaw who famously stole from the rich to give to the poor.

To become a sponge and absorb information from everything and everyone around you.

Like Michael Jordan, your greatest skill has to be your ability to listen, to be teachable!

I try to learn something new from everything around me throughout the day.

Whenever I meet new people my main goal is to try to pick their brains and leave that encounter with some golden nuggets that I didn’t have before!

If I watch a movie or a show, I try to dig deep into the lines and take lessons away from it that can help me in everyday life.

Whenever I experience a setback or something negative in my life, I try to learn from the lesson I’m being taught and the mistakes I made so I can avoid it the next time.

Since the moment I learned this, I’ve attached this way of thinking to my everyday life, it’s a part of me now.

How about you? Have you been living life with this Robin Hood mentality?

If not then it’s time to make a change, now that you’ve learned this today it’s your job to put this information to use!

You must become an absorption machine this is the key, especially around the right people. You must take notes and study successful people.

How they walk, how they talk, become obsessed with success.

Even in times when you’re not around successful people, you still have to be able to put this mentality into play.

Remember the main purpose of the RH mentality is to learn from everyone.

You may ask why learn from people that are not as successful.

Great question.

Because everyone in this world knows something you don’t, it’s your job to ask the right questions, listen closely and get it out of them.

Steal the good, leave the bad.

For example, you might not like the Kardashians but guess what, they’re great at staying relevant which means they’ve mastered the game of marketing.

You also might not like the drama surrounding them which is fair.

So what do you do? You take all the marketing tips they give and you leave the bad that comes with them!

That’s what the Robin Hood mentality really is from both points of view.

Summary

  • You must have the Robin Hood mentality - you see every person with a piece of gold in their brain and try to take that gold and give it to yourself.

  • Try to learn something new from everyone you meet even if it’s what not to do.

  • No matter how much money you have or where you are in life nothing should stop you from growing more knowledge in your brain!

As always guys I’ll leave you with a quote that relates to this topic, have a great weekend!
